Today we returned to the Jardin des Plantes in Paris to visit the enormous greenhouses, home to an amazing collection of plants ranging from tropical to dessert.

Next we visited La Grande Mosquée de Paris.  Of course, we finished the afternoon with a cup of Moroccan mint tea and some sweet pastries!

The museum of fashion that we visited today at the Musée Galliera was quite remarkable.  The collection is enormous, but seldom put on display.  Even showing the items threatens to cause deterioration.  We saw only a very small sampling of the dresses and accessories in the collection.  Turn of the century evening dresses accented with silver threads, a doll from the 1800s with a complete wardrobe and all the accessories one might find in today's American Girl catalog, "shrimp tails" to enhance a woman's figure, corsets, gloves, the works.  The boot exhibit documented the change in styles from the mid 1800s to the first world war.  All very well presented.

The wine museum was designed for the vintner.  All of the tools for cultivation, harvest, and winemaking over the centuries were present.  The specific vocabulary would have been challenging in English and proved overwhelming, at times, in French.  Instead of wine tasting at the end of the visit, we tasted a couple of the grape juices used in wine making.  Whitney has a new addiction!
