What is Structured Dual Enrollment?

The Structured Dual Enrollment program at Dayspring Academy gives 11th and 12th grade learners the opportunity to fulfill their high school graduation requirements while simultaneously earning college credit through an agreement with Pasco-Hernando State College. It is expected that upon graduation, Dayspring dual enrollment learners will not only receive their high school diploma, but also be awarded their associate of arts or associate of science degree. Dual enrollment learners are exempt from all tuition, laboratory fees, or special fees of eligible courses, and all learners will receive their textbooks at no cost. As a Structured Dual Enrollment program, specialized guidance from qualified counselors at the Dayspring secondary campus is given to each learner including advice on courses to take, textbooks needed, and self-monitoring of progress. Dayspring is committed to seeing that all dual enrollment learners succeed, requiring that the learners track their grades and submit the data weekly. Guidance counselors monitor grades and request that students attend tutoring if needed. Tutoring is offered on-line or through the college for free. In addition to offering specialized guidance as a way to foster success, Dayspring dual enrollment learners must take one college course at the Dayspring Secondary Campus each semester. This course is taught by a college professor and includes a course on college success as well as a culminating practicum. Not only does this allow for learners to connect with one another each week to share strategies, successes, and challenges, it continues the development of the bond that these learners have with one another and their peers and teachers at Dayspring. Our Structured Dual Enrollment also includes the option of a mentorship program to facilitate learning opportunities outside the classroom. These experiences provide the opportunity to apply classroom theory to "real world" situations thus enhancing the learner’s academic and career goals. This agreement outlines the responsibilities of the following partners: the mentor, Dayspring Academy, the learner, and the parent/guardian.

Our Secondary School students inducted into the National Honor Society.
